About The Event

Training from Chrysalis Awakening

Workshop 1 – Relating (this workshop can be attended as a group of three or as a stand alone training)

Exploring imagery, metaphor, story-telling and kinaesthetic approaches that provide an extra opportunity for you to develop yourself and help clients make new associations, gain fresh perspectives and delve deeper into the heart of the matter.

What we'll be doing:

In this first workshop we look at our relationship with ourselves and our relationships with other people.

To help us look more deeply at ourselves, we reflect on our names – our name, after all is a representation of who we are. But how did you get your name? What does your name mean to you, what do you associate with it, what’s its history, who uses your name and how do they use it? Perhaps you don’t even use your given name anymore, perhaps you call yourself something different. And if so, why? Using creative techniques, we explore our sense of ‘self’ and what it means to be ‘you.’

To explore our relationships with other people we use a kinaesthetic and visual way to provide an opportunity to externally represent ourselves and our relationships with other people that always uncovers new perspectives and fresh options on how to manage ourselves in challenging situations.

In each workshop, in support of the main theme, we introduce a range of tactile and creative techniques that provide prompts or metaphors to help you explore the topic and provide the mental stimulus to find new associations and insights that develop new pathways of thinking.

Every workshop also includes an activity that takes us outside to get some fresh air and feel the power of nature and the perspective it gives us. We use nature and creative ideas as another medium to experience how movement aids the thinking process and how changing our environment aids our ability to reflect.

These workshops are suitable for:

  • Individuals wanting to know more about themselves - what makes you tick,  what your beliefs and values are, where they came from and explore if they are still serving you well.
  • Coaches, Counsellors or Therapists undergoing their training or fully qualified, who are wishing to explore how creative techniques unlock a deeper conversation with their clients.
  • Mindfulness, Yoga, Pilates and teachers in other affiliated fields who are engaged with developing the whole person.

For those of us in the coaching, counselling and therapy profession, they are a welcome addition to our tool-kit and one that Dr Pat Williams, co-founder of the ICF Core Competencies, calls an advanced skill, because, as he says  "it helps clients to get to the unconscious part without words getting in the way."
